Painting – Random Acts of Paint

How can you use the circumstances of chance and accidents to create your painting?

Program Description

The artistic works and automatic drawing techniques of Surrealist artists inspire this engaging program. Students are encouraged to let go of their inhibitions so they can experiment with the concept of chance and accidents and how that can influence their creative process. Your students will explore drawing and painting techniques and gain a deeper understanding of the media.

Program Objectives

By the end of the Painting – Random Acts of Paint program, students will:

  • View historical and contemporary examples of abstract art.
  • Produce a painting that focuses on the theme of chance and accidents and how that can influence the creative process.
  • Explore colour theory and painting techniques.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of painting vocabulary.
