About Victoria Yeung

Vicky Yeung’s dance career began as a founding member of the University of Manitoba Swing Dance club back in 2000 and she has since taught dance classes and workshops in vintage swing (Lindy Hop, Balboa, Shag), modern swing (West Coast swing), rock ‘n’ roll (rockabilly jive, bop, stroll) and country (two-step, country swing, East Coast swing) all across Canada. Most recently, you can find Vicky teaching at PSP Borden, Uptempo (Barrie) Dance Studio and Swing Toronto.

Benoit’s start in swing dance began in his home town of Quebec City in 2001. Upon his relocation to Winnipeg in 2004, he met and started teaching with Vicky at the University of Manitoba Swing Dance Club.  Since then, he can be spotted on the social dance floor at various events and occasionally teaching the drop in dance lesson at Swing Toronto’s weekly Saturday Night Swing event.

About Toronto All-Star Big Band

Armed with brilliant programming, choreography and engaging cultural nostalgia, the Toronto All-Star Band (TASB) is a vibrant cast of talented young performers who have earned their position at the top of the list of presenters throughout Ontario and the United States. Theatrical engagements are far-reaching, and recent gigs have included the Glenn Miller festival in Clarinda, Iowa, the Villages and the Snowbird Extravaganza in Florida, the Muskoka Lakes Music Festival, Beaches International Jazz Festival, Art Park in Lewiston, N.Y. and Toronto’s famed Palais Royale, Casa Loma and the Old Mill.

At the heart of the musical matter, the TASB provides one of the most intense and stimulating youth music programs in Canada. Behind their extraordinary entertainment, they engage the cream of the crop young musicians from across the GTA in a rigorous regimen of rehearsals, workshops, and fantastic skill-building performance experiences with such international stars as Clark Terry, Doc Severinsen, Cleo Laine and John Dankworth, Eddie Daniels, and Larry Elgart. The band has also collaborated with wonderfully talented Canadians, including Peter Appleyard, Oliver Jones, Ranee Lee, Tommy Ambrose, Phil Nimmons and the great Jackie Richardson. In June 2009, TABB had the great pleasure of performing with Legend Benny Golson. The band has enjoyed workshops with band leader Howard Cable, trombonist Al Kay, saxophonists Alex Dean, John Dankworth and Benny Golson, as well as trumpeters Clark Terry and John McLeod.
