Program Description
This program provides students an opportunity to cultivate self-expression and build community by drawing from a variety of street style dance traditions.
Program Objectives
By the end of the Dance – Hip-Hop and Street Styles program, students will:
- Explore the origins and five pillars of hip-hop (DJing, MCing, Graffiti, Breaking and Knowledge).
- Students will demonstrate fundamental movement skills, such as bounce, rock and groove that are essential to hip-hop and street styles.
- Students will work through a variety of hip-hop traditions, like cyphers and call-and-response to gain deeper cultural understanding.
