Program Description

Students will explore historical and contemporary mask-making traditions across a variety of cultures. These references will inspire students to design and create their own clay masks using hand-building techniques.

Program Objectives

By the end of the Clay – Masks program, students will:

  • Use appropriate terminology related to ceramic arts. 
  • Explore the historical and contemporary uses of masks in society.
  • Demonstrate the ability to construct a clay mask using a slab and additional hand-building techniques.
