Program Description
Welcome to the world of clay creatures. Students will examine both historical and contemporary representations of creatures from a range of cultures, considering what they represent and the meanings connected to them. These visual references will inspire students to design and create their own ceramic creature using hand-building techniques.
Program Objectives
By the end of the Clay – Creatures program, students will:
- Use appropriate terminology related to ceramic arts.
- Assess examples of sculptural creatures related to their form and function.
- Demonstrate the ability to construct a clay creature using a pinch pot and additional hand-building techniques.
