About

Harbourfront Centre is proud to co-partner with the Toronto Biennial of Art (TBA) on its fourth edition, Things Fall Apart, a city-wide exhibition featuring works by more than 30 artists and collectives, including 16 new commissions.

Curated by Allison Glenn, Things Fall Apart explores rupture as an ontological tool and a way of understanding the world. Anchored by the geographies of the Great Lakes, the 2026 Biennial traces expansive connections between more than 20 international waterways, trade routes and voyages spanning five continents. Building on the Biennial’s ongoing inquiry into waterways — first explored through Toronto’s geographies in 2019 — the 2026 edition considers how water connects histories, places, economies and communities across borders.

Co-presented by the Toronto Biennial of Art and Harbourfront Centre and made possible with the generous support of RBC, Eleanor and Francis Shen, and the Women Leading Initiative
