Program Description

Textile Arts brings communities together and encourages collaboration. Your students will discuss contemporary and traditional textile works that have encouraged storytelling and promoted social change. Using recycled fabrics, collage and fibre arts techniques, students create a collaborative piece based on a cherished memory involving friends or family.

Program Objectives

By the end of the Textile Art: Family Portraits program, students will:

  • Explore contemporary and traditional textile works that have encouraged collaboration, social change and awareness. 
  • Experiment with recycled fabrics, collage and fibre arts techniques. 
  • Produce a collaborative, two-dimensional work based on a family portrait.
