How can a collaborative work of textile art tell a story?
Textile Arts brings communities together and encourages collaboration. Students discuss contemporary and traditional textile works that have encouraged storytelling. Students create a collaborative piece based on a cherished memory involving friends or family using recycled fabrics, collage and fibre arts techniques.
By the end of the Textile Art: Family Portraits program, students will:
- Explore contemporary and traditional textile works that have encouraged collaboration and story-telling.
- Experiment with recycled fabrics, collage and fibre arts techniques.
- Produce a collaborative, two-dimensional work based on a family portrait.
