Bartender

We are currently looking to bring on board several reliable, personable and highly service-oriented Bartenders to assist with all bar services and hospitality offerings at various venues across our campus. This role is responsible for the overall readiness and cleanliness of our theatres and satellite bars, as well as inventory management, assisting with artist services duties, and offering exemplary customer service to our patrons.

Reporting to: Manager, Hospitality

Type of Employment: Casual

Hours of Work: Based on need, with varying shifts that primarily include evening and weekend hours, but may require daytime work as well

Rate of Pay: $19 per hour

Location: On site, at our Toronto lakeside campus

 

Duties

  • Assist Hospitality Supervisor, providing and maintaining excellent service standards and inventory control.
  • Following par level stocking in all areas with products and ensuring other staff are keeping appropriate par levels.
  • Ensure the overall readiness, cleanliness, and maintenance of venues and related food and beverage services and equipment.
  • Assist with venue and bar set-up for performances, receptions, and special events.
  • Handle cash and card transactions on POS system, as well as end- of- day cash outs and till balancing.
  • Develop understanding of functions and basic troubleshooting of POS system.
  • Perform general cleaning duties, such as wiping down bars before and after events, taking dishes and glassware to dishwasher, cleaning coffee carafes and stations.
  • Transfer bar products across our site in preparation for events.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of all service items, such as linens, glassware, and equipment.
  • Assist with the overall inventory controls and organization of product on our campus.
  • Assist with artist & staff hospitality coordination for various artist services and staff/ volunteer events.

 

Requirements

  • 1+ years serving/ bartending experience in a theatre or high-volume setting.
  • Smart Serve certified. An up-to-date Smart Serve certification is required and will need to be presented prior to hiring.
  • Experience with F&B POS systems.
  • Pleasant verbal communication and interpersonal skills to properly interact with the public and VIP guests.
  • Strong attention to detail, alertness and the ability to multi-task.
  • Capability to work efficiently within strict timelines in accordance with department expectations.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the industry AGCO guidelines regarding alcohol service, and an understanding of Harbourfront Centre’s liquor license.
  • Availability to work various shifts that take place mainly during evenings and weekends.
  • Restaurant serving experience is considered valuable.
  • Food Handlers certification is an asset.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Non-Canadian applicants must have a valid employment Visa and proper documentation authorizing their ability to work in Canada for the duration of active employment.
