About

Diyet & The Love Soldiers bring a powerful and heartfelt performance to Canada Day, blending alt-country, folk and traditional influences into a sound that is both intimate and expansive.

Rooted in her Northern Indigenous heritage, Diyet’s songs, performed in both English and Southern Tutchone, offer rich storytelling inspired by land, community and lived experience. Backed by the dynamic musicianship of The Love Soldiers, the band delivers an engaging set that weaves together themes of history, resilience and hope, inviting audiences on a journey through sound and culture.

About Diyet & the Love Soldiers

Diyet spent her childhood on the ancestral lands of the Kluane First Nation people in Canada’s Yukon territory. Coming from a family rooted in traditions but tempered with a good sense of adventure, Diyet has created a musical presence that is as diverse as her Southern Tutchone, Tlingit, Japanese and Scottish heritage.

She discovered her voice singing on a school bus and went on to acquire a degree in music, becoming a published songwriter in Vancouver, BC. Through international collaborations, extensive touring and acclaimed albums, The Breaking Point, When You Were King and the multiple nominated, Diyet & The Love Soldiers, comprised of her husband and collaborator Robert van Lieshout JUNO Award-winning producer Bob Hamilton, the band has performed nationally and internationally in Europe, including major folk, jazz, world and multidisciplinary festivals.

Known for sounds that blur the lines between alternative country, folk and roots, sung in both English and Southern Tutchone with stories deeply rooted in Diyet’s Indigenous world view, this multi-instrumental trio from the Yukon has a sound that can fill a big stage or capture an intimate room.
