About

Summer Music in the Garden is an intimate live music experience by the waterfront, occurring Thursdays at 7pm and Sundays at 4pm all summer. Presenting a multicultural slate of songs, sounds and stories, the Music Garden will host 20 free performances by Canadian musicians and celebrated local artists. This season’s highlights include the classical storytelling of JUNO nominee Julie Lumsden, the Afrocentric choral music of The Nathaniel Dett Chorale, the electric Cuban rhythms of Montano Cubano and the Western, classical and Persian fusion of Ladom Ensemble.

More details coming soon.

Summer Music in the Garden is made possible through the generosity of our partners and donors. Special thanks to the City of Toronto and founding patron and Toronto Music Garden champion Dr. James D. Fleck, our founding donors, our 2026 program supporters and the generosity of our audiences.

The less sense the world makes, the more sense music makes.

That’s how I’m feeling – so grateful that, for right now, we have this beautiful space under a tree by the lake where we can gather and listen to the generosity of these wonderful artists; sharing their brilliance and inspiration, opening us to new ideas and cultures, helping us remember and forget, pouring out their love and joy and wisdom and grief and tragedy.

Each and every one of us is an essential part of these things – music making, and collectively being human.

We welcome all of you. We appreciate all of you. Come and make music with us.

Each year I return to the Summer Music in the Garden series, I choose a new guiding word to reflect the season. This year I’ve chosen ‘vibrant’.  When the world feels dark, it is time for us to gather together and shine brightly. Music is that nourishing light that asks us to gather in close and reminds us of our shared humanity. We have a vibrant group of musicians for the 2026 season who are looking forward to saturating your world in radiant sound. Join us among the blooms in the Toronto Music Garden. We look forward to seeing you there.
