Operations (Custodial) Crew

We are currently looking to bring on board several Operations (Custodial) Crew to perform the daily cleaning of our indoor/outdoor venues and spaces at our 10-acre lakeside campus and to facilitate the set-up and strike-down requirements of our events and festivals.

 

Position Title: Operations (Custodial) Crew

Department: Site Operations

Reporting To: Supervisor, Grounds & Custodial

Employment Type: Seasonal, May/June – Sept./October 2024

Hours of Work: Up to 35 hours a week, with hours varying based on need. Work shifts can include day, evening and weekend hours

Rate of Pay: $16.55 – $17.25 per hour

Work Location: Toronto, at our lakeside campus

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning of the outdoor and indoor venues and spaces located on our 10-acre lakeside campus, including our main building and office spaces. Cleaning includes sweeping, mopping, emptying garbage, high dusting, detailed clean and scoop, vacuuming, etc.
  • Assemble/dismantle setups and strikes including tables, chairs, stages, kitchen equipment and others as required.
  • Maintain Harbourfront Centre equipment (e.g., tables, chairs, vacuums, sign boards, etc.).
  • Respond to requests from Harbourfront Centre employees and the public, providing assistance as required.
  • Monitor and maintain public washrooms. Spot and detail clean, keep washrooms stocked and resupply as needed.
  • Bus, clean and rearrange tables in a food court type and public seating area.
  • Perform proper sanitation of high touch area, furniture and equipment.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature as assigned.

 

 Requirements

  • Ability to operate equipment used for cleaning, steam cleaner, vacuum, etc. is required. Ability to use floor scrubber equipment is highly desirable.
  • Physically able to lift and move tables and chairs and other related equipment, up to 50lbs.
  • Wearing safety shoes is a requirement to work.
  • Personable and polite (courteous with staff and the public.)
  • Professional work ethic and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Available to work varying shifts: day, evening, weekends and holidays.
  • A collaborative and team player aptitude.
  • Good attendance and punctuality are a must.
  • Working at heights certification and first aid training is preferred.
  • WHMIS training is required (can be acquired during training if hired).
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Non-Canadian applicants must have a valid employment Visa and proper documentation authorizing their ability to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.
