Our Main Building and galleries will not be open to the public for Nuit Blanche. Access to “Hopes and Fears Assembly” will be on the northwest side of the Main Building.

Marine Service Crew

We are currently looking to bring on board a motivated and reliable Marine Service Crew to support our Marine Services operations throughout summer/early fall 2024.

 

Position Title: Marine Service Crew 

Department: Site Operations  

Type of Employment: Seasonal/contract, June – October 2024

Hours of Work: up to 35 hours per week, based on operational need. Hours of work may include week days, weekends, day and evening hours

Rate of Pay: $19.50 – $20 per hour

Work Location: At our lakeside campus in downtown Toronto

 

Duties  

  • Install and maintain floating docks, Marine Safety equipment and Marine electrical and mechanical facilities. 
  • Observe equipment in operation to detect potential problems and safety concerns.  
  • Assist with Marine programs as required. 
  •  Responsibly and safely operate Harborfront work boats, vehicles and heavy equipment. 
  • Assist with the mooring of visiting ships. 
  • Work with the Marine Crew Lead Hand on installation of new facilities. 
  • Ensure all water lots at Harbourfront are free of debris, garbage and seaweed daily. 
  • Replace worn, damaged, or defective dock boards, posts/rails and all related equipment. 
  • Inspect marina, docks, piers, and report all necessary repairs. 

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and heavy-duty equipment. 
  • Experience with electrical systems and the loads that can be placed on them. 
  • Knowledge of carpentry, metal work, fiberglass repairs and welding. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member. 
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. 
  • Ability to swim, and a strong understanding of water safety. 
  • Must have a valid G license.
  • Forklift license is desirable.
  • Certified first aid/CPR is considered an asset
  • Availability to work a varying work schedule that includes weekday, evening and weekend shifts. 
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Non-Canadian applicants must have a valid employment Visa and proper documentation authorizing their ability to work in Canada for the full duration of the contract.
