We are seeking a passionate, creative, and skilled Visual Arts Specialist, Camps to lead engaging, high-quality art workshops for campers. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in a variety of artistic mediums, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment. This role is an exciting opportunity to share a love of visual arts, support campers in their creative exploration, and collaborate with camp staff to deliver an exceptional summer camp experience. 

 

Position Title: Visual Arts Specialist, Camps

Department: Education, Camps

Number of Vacancies: 1

Type of Employment: Seasonal contract, from early May to end of August 2026

Hours Of Work: 10-25 hours per week, based on need and program registration

Rate of Pay: $26.25 per hour

Work Location: On-site at our waterfront campus in Toronto

 

Duties

  • Plan, prepare and deliver visual arts programming in designated camps.
  • Manage supplies by tracking inventory and communicating needs to the Assistant Manager, Camps. 
  • Teach a variety of visual arts workshops to a diverse range of campers (ages 4-15). 
  • Prepare, monitor and reset camp spaces for each visual arts session. 
  • Monitor camper progress, provide assistance and encouragement, and pace workshops to meet camper needs and abilities, ensuring inclusion of all campers remains a priority. 
  • Engage and collaborate with camp staff, including Supervisors, Program Leads, Counsellors, and Co-op Students. 
  • Collaborate with Program Leads on programming. 
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature as assigned to deliver a meaningful and enjoyable camp experience. 

 

Requirements 

  • Relevant experience leading programming/workshops for children and youth (4-15) of all abilities, with the capacity to create enriching and inclusive workshops that prioritize safety, participation, and creative expression.
  • Demonstrated independence in managing all aspects of programming, including setup, cleanup, and supply management. 
  • Skilled at motivating and engaging campers throughout workshops. 
  • Brings a positive attitude and enthusiasm to each day. 
  • Strong organizational skills to manage setup, cleanup, timing, and required materials. 
  • Proficiency in leading workshops in a variety of art mediums (drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, textile arts, clay, etc.). 
  • A passion for the arts and a commitment to artistic exploration through personal practice is valued.
  • Training in education and/or child development (B.Ed., E.C.E, artists in the community or equivalent) is an asset. 
  • Post-secondary education or training in the arts (B.F.A., diploma or equivalent) is an asset.
  • As a condition of employment, a Criminal Background Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) is required of the successful candidate. The cost of this screening is to be covered by the incumbent.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the seasonal contract. 
  • This role is based in Toronto. The candidate must be able to work on site at our lakeside campus
