We are currently seeking a competent Assistant, Volunteer Engagement for our busy summer festival season who will be responsible for administrative tasks such as responding to volunteer inquiries, scheduling volunteers, preparing volunteer packages, and tracking volunteer contributions, as well as festival/event execution and volunteer support on weekends.

 

Position Title: Assistant, Volunteer Engagement

Department: Volunteer Engagement

Reporting To: Manager, Volunteer Engagement

Number of Vacancies: 1

Type of Employment: Seasonal/Contract, 21 weeks in duration from May 4 – September 28, 2026

Hours of Work: The work week runs from Wednesday to Sunday or from Thursday to Monday. Hours of work may vary up to 35 hours per week

Compensation: $23-$24 per hour

Work Location: On site at our lakeside campus in downtown Toronto

 

Main Duties

  • Field volunteer inquiries, returning calls and responding to emails in a timely manner.
  • Maintain shift schedule spreadsheets and track departmental volunteer requests
  • Create and post volunteer opportunities on the Volunteer Management System (Better Impact).
  • Prepare volunteer packages for each event and distributing them in a timely manner.
  • Supervise volunteers at the Volunteer Lounge or elsewhere on campus during festivals and events.
  • Liaise among volunteers, staff, and the public during festivals and events.
  • Assist with post-event follow-up evaluations, as needed.
  • Maintain volunteer database and statistics with accuracy and with attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with the DIY-Volunteer Program Audit team if applicable.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature as required.

 

Requirements 

  • Completion of post-secondary degree in arts, music, events and/or volunteer management or related field.
  • Experience in event/venue and/or volunteer management is an asset.
  • 1-2 years of administrative experience.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and database management.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with many different teams.
  • Must be available to work a schedule that includes, days, evenings and weekend shifts.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.
  • This role is site based at our lakeside campus in downtown Toronto.
