Alyssa Getz, Ian MacInnis, Nadira Narine and Rob Raeside are remarkable and skilled glass artists. They also share a common experience, as the hardworking assistants on a popular series all about glassblowing! See them show off their prodigious talents.

About Nadira Narine
Raised in Panama City, Nadira Narine has a deep interest in her cultural roots. Having lived in Canada since 2011, she explores objects and memories from her childhood as a means of self-discovery and connection to home. Narine is a current Artist-in-Residence at the Living Art Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. She holds a Bachelor of Craft and Design specializing in Glass and Textiles. She completed a four-year Artist-in-Residence (Glass) position at Harbourfront Centre and has been most recently recognized as a finalist for the prestigious 2023 RBC Glass Award. She has also worked as a studio assistant in the Netflix series Blown Away.
About Rob Raeside
Rob Raeside is a glass object maker working with the medium since 2008. He studied at Sir Sanford Fleming College and Sheridan College School of Craft. Rob’s earliest exposure to glass was observing the refined shapes of mid-century Scandinavian designs from Kosta Boda and Orrefers. Raeside draws inspiration from classic forms, spheres, cylinders and cones. He has an inherent knowledge of his material and through refined technique, skillfully manipulates glass to create playful pieces and elegant objects. His extensive colour palate favours both subdued shades and lustrous hues. Raeside has worked for accomplished Canadian glass artists Andy Kuntz, Paula Vendermey, Sally McCubbin, Maciej Dyszkiewicz, Alexi Hunter and Mariel Waddell-Hunter. He is a resident artist at Harbourfront Centre’s Craft Studios in Toronto. He has also worked as a studio technician in the Netflix reality series Blown Away. He lives in Hamilton, Ontario.
About Alyssa Getz
Alyssa Getz is a graduate of Sheridan College’s glass program. She now teaches at Sheridan, sharing her skills with emerging artists. Getz was a resident at The Living Arts Center for eight years; during this time, she developed her body of work, The Multiverse. A colourful, pattern-filled series that uses complex cane inclusions to give depth and multiple frequencies of intricacy. Getz has assisted on the hit television show Blown Away since season one and helped build the equipment on set. She spent the summer of 2022 completing a three-month residency at Glazenhuis in Lommel, Belgium. This was an opportunity to further expand on her body of work and create some pieces for the Belgium Museum’s permanent collection. Getz owns Tropical Iceberg Glass, a glass manufacturing business running out of the Glen Williams Mill in Georgetown, Ontario.
About Ian MacInnis
Ian MacInnis is a glassblower and maker in Oakville, Ontario. A 2015 Sheridan graduate from the Craft and Design Program, he has spent most of his career assisting various artists, including David Thai, Blaise Campbell, Nick Chase, Kelly Lowe, Thomas Cudmore, Alyssa Getz and Alex Anagnostou. He has also worked at Jeff Goodman Studios as a production glassblower for Kitras Art Glass. MacInnis notably appeared as an assistant on Netflix’s Blown Away series. In 2022, he returned to Sheridan College as the Artist in Residence and is now pursuing his own glass vision.
