The wonderful Judith Tinkl, an exceptional quilt artist, will converse with Alan Elder. Tinkl’s career has touched many aspects of artistic practice, including volunteerism, curation, organization, service and advocacy. This exciting and far-reaching exchange will be led by Alan Elder, a respected Canadian senior curator, writer, and thinker.

About Judith Tinkl

Judith Tinkl had a very varied career since graduating from OCA in 1964. She worked in administration, teaching, mounting exhibitions, volunteering and being president of the Ontario Crafts Council and Surfacing, a textile organization. She worked on the Contemporary Gallery Committee in the early days of the Textile Museum and organized exhibitions and conferences for surfacing. She raised two sons, exhibited work, and taught at OCA, OCAD and OCADU. Since retirement, Tinkl has shown her work in many exhibitions and continues exploring as many new directions as possible in her art.
About Alan Elder

Alan Elder is the Canadian Crafts, Decorative Arts and Design Curator at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Ottawa. He has also been a curator at The Power Plant, Ontario Crafts Council and the Burlington Art Centre. He co-edited (with Ian Thom) A Modern Life: Art and Design in British Columbia 1945-1960.
