Noir Experience is a Black chef collective showcasing the cuisine of the Black diaspora, from the Caribbean to Africa. The collective partners with local businesses, artists and musicians to create unique culinary experiences. 

This workshop is a one-hour cooking class for children learning the techniques of making a quiche florentine with plantain and garnish. Make this incredibly tasty dish and learn the history behind these Jamaican flavours and ingredients. Each child will be provided with a chef’s hat and a disposable apron.  

About Chef Latonya Bentley

Latonya Bentley is a chef, amongst many other things. She attended George Brown College and worked at The Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Scarborough General Hospital and Pinnacle Catering at the Scotiabank Arena. 

Her passion is meeting new people with the same interest and learning new things each time so she can take that skill with her and pass it on to the next person. Currently, she is working on her business, which includes her online tea store and content creation.    

Chef Bentley has joined the Noir Collective as a participating chef to showcase Black chefs in Toronto.

We’ve created the Noir Experience to elevate Black and underrepresented communities and give all those an equal platform to showcase their culinary skills and create an experience for the public.  

Our chefs are vibrant and diverse, from the Caribbean to Africa. We offer a space for these chefs to thrive, infusing our history and ancestry into every bite. Through our growing network, we partner with local businesses, artists and musicians to create a unique culinary experience of meals with elevated style.

Please bring a Tupperware/container with you to the workshop to take your delicious food home.

Allergy alert; Ingredients will include: eggs, heavy cream, salt/pepper, spinach, shallots, cheese, plantain 

This event has a standby line. Please arrive and check-in for your event 10 minutes prior to the start time. Just before the start of the event, unclaimed seats will be released to the standby line. Late admissions may be allowed at the discretion of the venue. Once a venue reaches capacity, no further ticket holders or standby registrants will be admitted.
