Nomadland is a 2020 American drama film written, produced, edited and directed by Chloé Zhao. It stars Frances McDormand as a widow who leaves her life in Nevada to drift around the United States in her van. The film won the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress for McDormand, with Zhao becoming the second woman and first Asian woman to win Best Director, and the first to be nominated in four categories in a single year.
