About
Alan Guzman is a multidisciplinary artist working in jewellery, engraving and pavé stone setting. He studied Jewellery Arts at George Brown College and stayed on as a teaching assistant after completing the program. He taught himself hand engraving in 2021 and began teaching it to others in 2024, including a summer course at NSCAD University. In 2024, he studied advanced pavé setting under master stone setter and engraver Jason Marchiafava.
That practice now runs through his work, from rings and pendants to his series of brooches, each piece arriving with its own story. Guzman continues to study micro sculpting as his practice moves toward sculptural work. He has been an Artist-in-Residence at Harbourfront Centre since 2023.
“At Harbourfront Centre, I’ve found the time, focus and uninterrupted space to do my best work, surrounded by other makers doing theirs. Being around this level of craft raises and sharpens my own vision. This residency has grown my work and taken it beyond the city, leading to exhibitions, new collectors and teaching opportunities.”
