We are currently looking to bring on board a passionate, organized and collaborative Education Coordinator, School Visits to support the development, coordination and delivery of our School Visits programs.

 

Position Title: Education Coordinator, School Visits

Department: Education

Reporting to: Assistant Manager, School Visits

Type of Employment: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Vacancies: 1

Compensation: $50,000-$55,000 annual salary, plus a comprehensive benefits package

Location: On site at our lakeside campus in downtown Toronto

 

Summary of Function

The Education Coordinator, School Visits is responsible for supporting the development, renewal and evaluation of all School Visits programs, ensuring that programs remain innovative, educationally relevant, and aligned with the Ontario Curriculum. This role also supports the training and development of seasonal educators, provides mentorship and guidance to teacher candidates, and manages the ordering and organization of supplies needed for the effective delivery of School Visits programs. The position is ideal for a dynamic educator with a passion for curriculum-aligned, inquiry-based learning.

 

Duties

  • Support the program development, renewal, and evaluation of School Visits programs, keeping in mind current best practices and updates to the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure they meet the needs of students and teachers, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning.
  • Oversee materials and supplies for all School Visits programs, including inventory, ordering and expense tracking.
  • Coordinate volunteer operations for School Visits programs, including preparing task assignments, welcoming volunteers, and liaising with the Volunteer Manager to ensure smooth program delivery.
  • Lead the recruitment, mentorship, development, and evaluation of student teachers.
  • Support the development and review of pre-visit and post-visit packages for all School Visits programs.
  • Support delivery of new program offerings in collaboration with strategic partners, gallery exhibitions, performances, and festivals.
  • Support communication with external partners to ensure the successful delivery of seasonal programs.
  • Support daily venue inspections to ensure set-ups meet safety standards and program-specific needs.
  • Support communication with visiting teachers via phone or email regarding upcoming bookings, as required.
  • Support the Assistant Manager, School Visits in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of seasonal educators.
  • Teach a variety of visual arts, performing arts and/or urban studies workshops, as needed.

 

Requirements

  • A university or college degree in education, the arts or a related field. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), OCT Certification an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience and/or leading workshops with children and youth in a formal or informal setting (school, gallery, museum, after-school program, camp).
  • Proficiency in at least one discipline in the Visual Arts (Printmaking, Textiles, Clay and Mixed Media) or Performing Arts (Dance, Drama, Music), with a willingness to work across multiple program areas.
  • Commitment to and passion for youth education and lifelong learning.
  • Experience in delivering programming aligned with the Ontario Curriculum.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate multiple activities and programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to handle potentially difficult situations with diplomacy.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience working with the Microsoft Suite (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Bilingualism (English-French) is considered an asset, as we often host French Immersion classes in our programs.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and lift various materials and equipment up to 40 lbs.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C are considered an asset.
  • As a condition of employment, a Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to Harbourfront Centre will be required of the successful candidate. The cost of this screening is to be covered by the incumbent.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada, on a full-time, ongoing basis.
  • This role is based in Toronto. The candidate must be able to work on-site at our lakeside campus.
