About

Take your sailing to the next level with CANSail 2! Designed for returning campers, this two-week course builds on the fundamentals learned in CANSail 1 and introduces new skills to help sailors become independent, capable and ready for more adventure on the water.

Guided by our experienced Sail Canada–certified instructors, campers will refine their technique in tacking, gybing, sail trim and upwind sailing, while learning new concepts such as right-of-way rules, docking and on-water problem solving. The course emphasizes both fun and skill development, combining on-water drills, short races and engaging land-based lessons that make learning exciting and interactive.

By the end of the program, sailors will feel confident sailing their dinghy in moderate conditions — a major step in their sailing journey and an achievement to be proud of!

Next step: Continue your sailing journey with CANSail 3 & 4 — a four-week advanced program running July 6–31 and August 4–28. Visit the THNC website to sign up and keep your sailing adventure going.

Location: Programs take place in Toronto’s Inner Harbour and surrounded by the beautiful Toronto Islands, guided by our experienced team.

Weather plan: Most activities happen outdoors and on the water (weather permitting) with fun indoor programming provided on rainy days.

Grouping: Campers are divided into Junior and Senior groups on the first day to ensure age-appropriate learning and coaching.

Prerequisite: CANSail 1 or equivalent experience recommended.

Certificate: Successful participants earn a Sail Canada CANSail 2 certificate.

Sailing Camp Safety

Safety is our priority — all campers in our marine programs are provided with a Personal Floatation Device (PFD), and proper use of the PFD is strictly enforced. Campers are welcome to use their own Transport Canada approved PFDs if they prefer.
In addition, all WETFEET (iCANSail) and CANSail 1 participants are provided with a helmet, which must always be worn while on the water.

Sailing campers are under the guidance of experienced and well-trained instructors from our partner, Toronto Harbour Nautical Centre.
