About

Harbourfront Centre’s Craft & Design Residency is a dynamic launchpad for emerging artists working in ceramics, design, glass, metal, and textiles. Since 1974, this celebrated program has offered unparalleled access to professional studios, mentorship, exhibition opportunities, and public engagement – all within a vibrant waterfront campus.

As Canada’s only residency of its kind, the program provides community and the support artists need to elevate their practice by pushing boundaries, expanding technical and conceptual skills, and thriving within a collaborative, multidisciplinary studio environment.

Visitors are welcome to experience the studio spaces where artists-in-residence work, explore their own creativity by taking hands‑on workshops, and discover exhibitions that showcase evolving practices. These craft and design encounters will ignite a genuine appreciation for the skill, innovation, and cultural vibrancy that define the program’s remarkable impact.

Harbourfront Centre’s Craft & Design programs are generously supported by The RBC Foundation, Canadian Heritage, the City of Toronto, the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts.
