Summer Camps 2024: Support Supervisor

Exciting seasonal employment opportunities for summer 2024 exist in Harbourfront Centre Camps, one of Toronto’s largest, most diverse and creative day camps. We are currently looking to bring on board a Support Supervisor to help train, oversee, and support our Camps Healthcare and Inclusion Facilitators and Counsellors. 

 

Position Title: Support Supervisor 

Department: Recreational Learning 

Type of Employment: Seasonal contract

Duration: May-September 2024 (Part-time training starting in May 2024 / Full-time staring June / Camps: July 2August 30, 2024) *dates subject to change 

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35-40 hours per week (training on weekends may be assigned) 

Rate of Pay: $20.50 per hour

 

Duties:

  • Assist in training of Healthcare and Inclusion Facilitators and Counsellors.
  • Oversee and support Healthcare and Inclusion Facilitators.
  • Conduct regular check-ins/meetings with Healthcare and Inclusion Facilitators.
  • Act as a resource and support with escalated camper behaviour challenges across all Camps.
  • Conduct administrative duties such as evaluations, incident reports, assist with reviewing intake and medical forms, etc.
  • Assist with supply inventory and organization of first aid supplies.
  • Assist in staff and camper safety during emergency procedures. 
  • Support professional growth of co-op students and/or volunteers if required.
  • Provide superior customer service.
  • Assist with elevated customer service concerns.
  • Help to organize and facilitate staff socials.
  • Limited assistance with toileting campers.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age at the start of a program.
  • Previous experience working in a camp setting and/or with children and youth.
  • Previous experience in the field special needs and/or healthcare.
  • Ability to remain organized throughout workday (on time submissions, staff evaluations, prioritize urgency of daily tasks, etc.).
  • Ability to supervise a staff team (collaborate, resolve conflict, provide feedback/tools, etc.).
  • Ability to lead staff training.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of daily tasks.
  • Ability to bring a positive attitude and enthusiasm to each day.
  • Ability to be responsible (punctual, balance time constraints, prioritize safety of campers/staff, etc.).
  • Must enjoy working with children and youth.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification is required
  • A Criminal Background Check (with Vulnerable Sector Screening) is required. 
  • Previous supervisor experience is preferable.  
  • Advanced First Aid with CPR-HCP, Advanced medical First Responder, Emergency Medical Responder certificate is desirable. 
  • Post-secondary education or training as related to the position (Child and Youth Studies, autism and behaviour studies, inclusion support services, Nursing, etc.) is an asset.
  • Valid G-Class driver’s licence is an asset. 
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Non-Canadian applicants must have a valid employment Visa and proper documentation authorizing their ability to work in Canada for the full duration of the contract.
  • The role requires standing for prolonged periods of time and involves some exposure to rigorous physical activity during camp-wide activities, and some exposure to inclement weather conditions during outdoor and offsite programs.
