As such, we are seeking a positive, collaborative and motivating Leadership Supervisor to oversee our Leadership and Canoe and Kayak programs, training and managing a team of 2-3 Head Instructors and ensuring smooth camp operations and programming alignment with the camp’s objectives.

Type of Employment: Seasonal contract, from May – September 2025. Training starting in May 2025 (part-time hours) with an increase to a regular work schedule in June. Camps run from June 30 -August 30, 2025.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35-40 hours per week (training on weekends may be assigned)
Rate of Pay: $21 per hour
Work Location: On-site at our waterfront campus in Toronto
Job Description
Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Camps and the Camp Coordinator, the Leadership Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Leadership and Canoe and Kayak Programs, training and managing a team of 2-3 Head Instructors, and ensuring smooth camp operations and programming alignment with the camp’s objectives. This role plans and facilitates training for Counsellors-in-Training (CITs), Leadership (LIT), Instructors-in-Training (IITs), and Co-op students, providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to become future Counsellors/Instructors, and monitoring and evaluating their progress. Our ideal candidate will possess a positive, adaptable attitude and the ability to manage shifting priorities with flexibility.
Duties
- Plan and facilitate training programs for Counsellors-in-Training (CIT’s), Instructors-in-Training (IIT’s), Leaders-in-Training (LIT’s) and Co-op students, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to become future Counsellors/Instructors. Organize placements for each CIT, IIT, LIT, and Co-op student in alignment with program standards and track their progress to inform future hiring decisions.
- Observe and evaluate CIT’s, IIT’s, LIT’s, and Co-op students during their placements, providing ongoing feedback to support their professional growth.
- Train and assist in the development of Program Facilitators and Counsellors, focusing on effectively working with and evaluating CIT’s, LIT’s. IIT’s and Co-op students.
- Supervise a team of 1-2 Head Instructors, ensuring smooth operations of their respective camps.
- Monitor and evaluate programming throughout the summer to ensure it meets camp goals and standards.
- Perform administrative tasks, including evaluations, incident reports, parent newsletters, and other documentation.
- Conduct regular check-ins and meetings with Head Instructors to provide support and guidance.
- Support the Camps Coordinator in organizing and conducting weekly staff meetings.
- Assist with inventory management, organization, and supply distribution.
- Provide excellent customer service to campers, families, and staff.
- Address elevated customer service concerns and escalate issues when necessary.
- Assist in ensuring camper and staff safety during emergency procedures.
- Help organize and facilitate end-of-session Open House performances and exhibitions.
- Coordinate and facilitate staff social events to build team morale.
Requirements
- Currently studying in post-secondary education in a field such as education, the arts, administration, or a related field, or have equivalent experience.
- Commitment to youth education and lifelong learning.
- Experience with one of the specialized disciplines: Leadership and/or Aquatic Lifesaving.
- Ability to coach and provide constructive feedback to staff, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring top performance from the team.
- A positive and energetic attitude, fostering a motivating and supportive environment.
- Capable to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and manage daily responsibilities effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Strong leadership skills to effectively guide staff through training sessions that align with program goals, ensuring a positive and safe environment for all participants.
- Consistent punctuality and strong organizational skills, efficiently handling email/phone correspondence, prioritizing urgent tasks, balancing time constraints, and staying on track with schedules.
- Must enjoy engaging with and supporting the development of children and youth in a educational/ camp setting.
- Comfortable using phones and proficient in common computer programs (e.g., MS Word, Excel, email, printers, and laminators).
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification is considered an asset.
- As a condition of employment, a Criminal Background Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) is required of the successful candidate. The cost of this screening is to be covered by the incumbent.

- This role is based in Toronto. The candidate must be able to work on site at our lakeside campus.
