We are currently seeking a collaborative, analytical and experienced Director of Forecasting, Budgeting & Reporting to lead the organization’s financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for developing robust financial forecasts, managing the annual budgeting process, and producing clear, accurate, and timely financial reports that inform leadership decision-making and support the organization’s mission. The incumbent will work collaboratively with finance staff and senior leadership to ensure financial sustainability, transparency, and accountability.

 

Key Responsibilities

* Forecast & Planning

  • Develop and maintain short- and long-term financial forecasts that align with strategic goals.
  • Conduct scenario modeling and sensitivity analyses to support organizational planning.
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to leadership regarding financial risks and opportunities.

* Budgeting

  • Lead the organization’s annual budgeting process, working with department heads and program managers.
  • Ensure budgets align with mission priorities, funding requirements, and resource constraints.
  • Monitor budget performance throughout the year and provide variance analyses with actionable recommendations.

* Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, board committees, funders, and regulators.
  • Ensure compliance with not-for-profit financial reporting standards and funder requirements.
  • Present financial results and trends in a clear and accessible manner to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

* Leadership & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with finance staff involved in analysis, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Partner with development/fundraising, programs, and operations teams to align financial planning with organizational activities.
  • Support Head of Finance in strategic financial initiatives and board presentations.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive financial management experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in not-for-profit financial management, including fund accounting, grant reporting, and restricted/unrestricted funding.
  • Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and not-for-profit accounting standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other ERP), budgeting software, and Excel.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across the organization.
