Overview
A new offshore sailing team, founded and skippered by Canadian Scott Shawyer, will visit the Toronto Harbour. Competing in his 60ft IMOCA racing yacht, Shawyer will take on the pinnacle event in the offshore calendar, the Vendee Globe Race: 42,000 kilometres of solo, non-stop racing around the world, to become the first Canadian to complete this epic feat.
The team is supported by renowned British solo sailor Alex Thomson, who will mentor Shawyer and the Canadian team as they train and enter the world of professional shorthanded sailing.
Canada Ocean Racing will build and lead a world-class offshore sailing venture in Canada, inspiring the next generation while creating a solid foundation for the continued development of the sport across the nation.
