DJ Starting from Scratch is a Toronto icon known for rocking venues internationally and the touring DJ for Toronto’s mogul Russell Peters. The Recipee (Jason Larmond, Juwayon Clarke, Jonathan Kerr and Omar ‘Oh!’ Lunan) have been a crowd favourite for decades across the city and have toured with artists such as Deborah Cox, Daniel Caesar, Mya, Brandy (Norwood) and Jully Black. Hosted by “Canada’s King of Comedy” Jay Martin, expect an explosive musical rivalry onstage where the crowd chooses the victor!
About Jay Martin, Host
Jay Martin is one of the most sought-after entertainers in Toronto. Martin is a talented comedian who engages and entertains audiences with his clean yet hilarious routines. He has opened for many top acts like Russell Peters, Steve Harvey, Kirk Franklin, Jamie Foxx and Cedric the Entertainer. He has produced successful shows like the Jay Martin Uptown comedy series, the Trinidad vs. Jamaica Mother’s Day show and Three the Hard Way. Martin’s talents also extend into R&B event curation with shows featuring a variety of artists such as Faith Evans and SWV. He has acted in onstage productions like Diary of a Mad Black Man, The Wedding Counsellor, and Ninety-four.
In addition, Martin is a morning show radio host, a JUNO award winner, and he was awarded the 2022 Afro Globals 100 of the Most Influential Black Canadians. He also has a feature-length film script under his belt called Destination Wedding. Currently, Martin is in talks with major broadcasters on the development of a 12-episodic sitcom series. Lastly, he has decided to try his hand at tourism with the recent launch of his two luxurious villas in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

About The Recipee Band
With energetic and heartfelt performances that display layers of depth and an instantly memorable sound, The Recipee Band is set to make their mark on the recording industry. The band members, consisting of Jason Larmond, Juwayon Clark, Otis Williams, Johnathan Kerr and Omar Lunan, tastefully blend the textures of Motown, R&B, gospel, reggae, pop, rock and underground Neo-Soul.
With over two decades of musicality, they continue to acquire high accolades and opportunities with international musicians like Justin Timberlake, Brandy, Mya and Usher Raymond. Their anticipated first single, “Edges Laid (Tonight), ” is available on all music platforms. The Recipee Band will release their full-length album in 2024.
