About Caity Gyorgy

Caity Gyorgy is a JUNO winning Toronto and Montreal-based vocalist, composer and lyricist known for singing bebop and swing music. Called one of JazzFM91’s “8 Canadian Women in Jazz You Need to Know,” Gyorgy has performed at clubs and major jazz festivals across Canada. 

She has worked and recorded with several Canadian jazz luminaries, including Allison Au, Pat LaBarbera, Jocelyn Gould, Don Thompson, Christine Jensen and Virginia MacDonald.   

In addition to performing, Gyorgy runs an Instagram account entitled “@Liftaday” where she has gained global recognition for her transcription videos of iconic Jazz solos viewed daily by thousands of people. She is also an avid writer and composes songs in the style of the Great American Songbook. Other vocalists worldwide have sung her compositions, and she has recently won the Grand Prize of the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the Jazz category for her song “Secret Safe.”  

She has independently released one self-titled EP, several singles and her debut album, No Bounds, featuring guitarist Jocelyn Gould. In 2019 she released an EP of original music under the Brooklyn-based label La Reserve called Now Pronouncing. It was selected as CBC Music’s Top 15 Canadian Jazz Albums of 2021 and won Vocal Jazz Album of the Year at the 2022 JUNO Awards. Her next album, Featuring, was released in 2022, and each of its thirteen tracks will feature a guest soloist.

About Sammy Jackson

JUNO Award-winning artist Sammy Jackson is an emerging Jamaican-Canadian singer-songwriter recognized for her distinct sound, fusing Jazz, R&B and pop elements. Growing up, she regularly found opportunities to perform and develop as a musician, which led her to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Performance specializing in Jazz Voice from the University of Toronto.   

Jackson has performed at notable venues and events such as the Glenn Gould Studio, TD Toronto and Niagara Jazz Festivals, The Rex Hotel Jazz and Blues Bar and Luminato as a rising presence in Toronto and Niagara. In addition to performing and leading her band, she has shared the stage with renowned musicians such as Barbra Lica, Robi Botos, Rich Brown and Larnell Lewis.  

In 2021, Sammy Jackson’sJackson’s latest release, With You, won a JUNO award for “Vocal Jazz Album of the Year.” This project is a five-track EP featuring original compositions collaborating with vocalist and songwriter Jacqueline Teh. It showcases honest and relatable music while exploring themes of vulnerability, broken relationships and love. Additionally, With You features some of Canada’s most outstanding musicians, including Tom Fleming, Chris Pruden, Mark Godfrey and Ian Wright.
