About

The Toronto Tabla Youth Ensemble (TTYE) will perform a lively outdoor performance blending contemporary and classical music with North Indian rhythms and tabla beats. As part of the performance, the TTYE will demonstrate how the tabla works, sharing the fascinating story of its cultural roots in India dating back thousands of years.

About The Toronto Tabla Youth Ensemble

The Toronto Tabla Youth Ensemble (TTYE) is an elite pre-professional training and performance troupe, ages 8-16, under the direct tutelage of tabla maestro Ritesh Das, founder of the JUNO nominated Toronto Tabla Ensemble. It is the most prestigious pre-professional youth tabla ensemble and leadership program in Canada. Students must audition and undergo a rigorous training program in tabla technique, classical North Indian music, etiquette, history and philosophy of Indian art and culture. The TTYE made their debut in November 2017 at the Harbourfront Centre during sold out show Parampara featuring musicians and artists from Toronto and San Francisco.
