About The Natural Women Revue
Toronto-based and formed in 2018, The Natural Women Revue is a dynamic live concert experience celebrating the legendary music of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight and other iconic women whose voices shaped the sound of R&B and Soul across generations.
For lead vocalist Jillian Mendez, music has never been a phase — it has been a calling. Singing since she was barely two years old, often using a broom as her first “microphone,” she was captivated early by the power, emotion and storytelling of soul music.
In 2018, Mendez approached drummer and musical director, Bryan Humphreys, with a clear vision: to create a band that would not simply perform these songs, but honour the spirit behind them. Together, they assembled some of Toronto’s finest musicians to deliver a polished, high-energy concert production rooted in authenticity, musicianship and that undeniable “I’m so funky” fire that defines real R&B.
Equally at home in theatres, festivals and corporate events, the show brings timeless soul to life with professionalism, power and heart.
