About

The group will treat listeners to new arrangements of folk and old popular music in Persian, Arabic, Turkish, Greek and some crossovers in English/French. Opa Yallah will perform several original compositions inspired by these styles along with these selections. There is a common thread in these musical cultures’ melodies, rhythms and poetry, which Opa Yallah weaves together in its concerts. The current lineup of musicians from Türkiye, the Philippines, Latvia and Canada will play bouzouki, oud, çumbus, guitar, keys and percussion.

About Opa Yallah

Opa Yallah began in 2018 in Toronto, Ontario. The group’s members come from a variety of backgrounds (Iranian, Turkish, Filipino, Latvian and Canadian) coming together through their love for the folk and old popular music of Iran, Greece, Türkiye, the Balkans and North Africa.
