About
Dance events in Cajun country are community occasions. They always include all ages from newborns to seniors, lots of socializing and good feeling and the chance to mix with all your neighbours and friends.
Cajun dance can be lively or smooth, high-energy or relaxed and easy, depending on the tune, the dance style and the dancers’ energy. You don’t need to come with a partner; you don’t need to know how to dance. By the end of the dance lesson, you will find yourself two-stepping and waltzing as though you’ve been doing it your whole life.
Then, when the band takes the stage, you can spend the rest of the evening like a Cajun, dancing and relaxing and enjoying the wonderful music of Swamperella.
7pm–8pm: Dance Class*
8pm–9:45pm: Live Band
*Sign up below for your Free Ticket to attend the Dance Class portion of the evening.
This event is rain or shine! This event will continue in most weather conditions with the exception of lightning storms or extreme weather.
About Tom & Myra
Dance callers and teachers Myra Hirschberg and Tom Calwell specialize in leading dances for community, corporate, civic and celebratory occasions for all ages and levels of experience. We bring people together on the dance floor with a minimum of fuss and a maximum of fun. We have taught Cajun and zydeco dance with Swamperella since their very first gigs.
About Swamperella
Swamperella is not only Canada’s own cajun/Zydeco band with almost 30 years under their shiny belts, Swamperella is an experience! Driving accordions, gutsy fiddling, sultry vocals and a killer rhythm section that pumps out a “can’t sit still” authentic Cajun/Zydeco groove.
Whether acoustically, at back porch bbq’s, street parties or in barns, or plugged in for large festival stages, Swamperella will captivate audiences with infectious rhythms and impassioned melodies. Since 1997, Swamperella is known for spreading the cajun/ Zydeco gospel, both traditional and homegrown, all over Canada. The band has shared performances with notable greats like Tracy Scwartz and Louisiana’s own Mamou Playboys, as well having been accompanied by The Niagara Symphony Orchestra!
