About
A workshop with playwright and screenwriter, Darren Anthony, for his new play, A Black Panther in the Great White North. In partnership with Harbourfront Centre x Black Arts Project.
Based on true events, and just days before his tragic assassination in 1969, Deputy Chairman Fred Hampton of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party is invited to speak at the University of Saskatchewan by a group of student activists. Determined to challenge the racial bias surrounding them, these students bring Hampton’s much-feared Black Panther philosophy to the heart of the Great White North.
Supported by Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, Backs Arts, Canada Arts Council, Banff Playwrights Lab and Canadian Association of Black Insurance Professionals.
