This six-week course will allow students to learn basic ceramic-making techniques in hand building and wheel throwing and various surface decoration techniques using slips, underglazes and glaze. Students will be encouraged to work independently to build and decorate functional pieces (e.g., boxes, bottles, bowls, cups, tiles, tumblers and trays) and small sculptural forms while guided by the instructor.
Basic materials are included in the registration fee.

Our studios are dedicated to our full-time Artists-in-Residence program; no studio access is allowed outside of the residency. The only exception is participants taking classes, who may only remain in the studio during actual class time.
You must apply for the program, follow the guidelines and meet the criteria required of applicants. This information can be found on our website (Residency Program Information) page. Applications open once a year in January and close in March.
The Craft & Design studios are 18+ only. However, we do have a craft-focused program through our School Visits department that specializes in that. For more information, you can visit the School Visits page on our website.
