Leadership Instructors-in-Training

Age 15 (by the end of the calendar year)

Harbourfront Centre’s IIT Program is designed to prepare instructors for the challenge and fun of on-water leadership. Sailing IIT and Canoe/Kayak IIT will participate in their own Pre-Camp Training during the last week of June to give them the skills to engage with Harbourfront Centre marine camps. IITs’ training will focus on practical skills, as well as camper management and leadership skills to set them up for success in the coming summer.

IITs will be asked to commit to four weeks of placement throughout the summer, working alongside our camps instructors, as well as volunteering with a variety of groups. As an IIT, you will have opportunities to gain boating certificates/certifications while gaining unique leadership experience and mentorship. Upon completion, IITs will receive volunteer hours for their camp placements. IITs will also get to refine their own skills and gain an understanding of the day-to-day operations of marine camps, both on-land and on-water.

Please note: Applications are accepted through the CampBrain registration portal. Space in this program is limited and only successful candidates will be asked to join us. Applications are due by May 15, 2024. Please apply through our website harbourfrontcentre.campbrainregistration.com/. Once you have chosen the type of IIT, and indicated your availability, IIT applicants will be asked to complete an application form to aid in the selection of appropriate participants. Applications after May 15 will be considered subject to availability. Successful applicants will be informed no later than June 1, 2024. Previous experience in paddling or sailing is a prerequisite for this program. Sailing IITs must have CANSail 2 at minimum.

Due to the nature of IIT volunteer requirements, IIT participants are ineligible for the bus transportation option.
