About
Harbourfront Centre’s Instructor-in-Training (IIT) Program is designed to prepare young leaders for the exciting challenges of on-water instruction within our Canoe and Kayak camp programs. IITs will commit to four weeks of placement over the summer, working alongside experienced instructors and volunteering with various camp groups. Training will focus on practical skills, camper management and leadership to ensure IITs are well-equipped for success in their roles.
Prerequisites include previous experience in life-saving courses (Junior Lifeguard Club, Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze Medals) or canoe and kayak experience.
Upon completing the four-week program, IITs will receive volunteer hours for their placements. Those who successfully complete the program may be eligible for an interview with Harbourfront Centre Camps for future positions, provided they apply through our website.
Mandatory Pre-Camp Training: June 23–27, 2025 (full week, Monday to Friday)
Session Placement Minimum: Combine any 4 sessions of the 2025 Camps season from the options below.
