Combining glassblowing with natural occurring, locally sourced materials, Chiara’s body of work inspires conversation about life, climate and consumerism.

About

Chiara Minchin was born and raised in Nakusp, British Columbia. She moved to Calgary to further her education at Alberta University of Arts and Design. Minchin began working with glass at the age of 12 experimenting with lamp working and fused glass alongside her mother. During her time at university, she furthered her passion in glass through glassblowing. She graduated from Alberta University of the arts with the Board of Governor’s Graduating Student Award 2026.

In her work she is particularly interested in the intersection of glass and naturally occurring materials, and the unexpected conversations that arise when these elements are combined. She is incredibly interested in making unique vessels and forms that incorporate uncommon materials or motifs to create work that is whimsical and timeless. Minchin aims for her art to be used as a gentle introduction into complex conversations whether that be about death, consumerism or the climate crisis.

Artist in Residence since 2026.
