About

Mehriniso Mustafoeva is an Uzbek Canadian artist based in Toronto. She is a 2026 graduate of the material art and design program at OCAD University. She received a Bachelor of Design Honours Degree and was awarded the Ken Vickerson Award for Excellence in Jewellery upon the completion of her thesis.

Mustafoeva’s practice is about the process of design and fabrication as a whole; how the connections between each stage are crucial. She is inspired by the history of craft; how fabrication processes have evolved overtime and the necessity of these changes. Her research and practice look at how present-day manufacturing is focused on efficiency and production with minimal regard to aesthetics. Mustafoeva believes that the objects of our environment influence and shape the outcome; with a beautiful tool, you can make beautiful work. Through her practice, she aims to understand this relationship between makers, their tools and their work — as an extension of the self.

Artist in Residence since 2026.
