We are looking to bring on board a collaborative, resourceful and dynamic Assistant Manager, School Visits to help with the planning, execution and the day-to-day overseeing of our School Visits programming, fostering high quality educational experiences for visiting students and ensuring that our offerings are aligned with Harbourfront Centre’s educational goals.

Compensation: Annual salary of $60,000 – $65,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package
Location: On-site at our lakeside campus in downtown Toronto
Summary Of Function
The Assistant Manager, School Visits assists in the development of School Visits strategies, supports program implementation, oversees day-to-day operations, and manages staff involved in School Visits programming, providing hands-on leadership to ensure a high-quality experience for educators, students, and visiting schools. Additionally, this role assists with revenue targets, budget tracking, and partnership initiatives.
Duties
* Program Delivery & Compliance
- Implement School Visits programs within Harbourfront Centre’s programming frameworks.
- Ensure School Visits programs are compliant in both design and delivery with Ontario Ministry of Education policies, learning expectations and standards.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of classes, ensuring program quality and safety.
- Research, develop and assess feasibility of new program ideas.
- Evaluate program success and develop plans for improvement; prepare reports for program evaluations and recommendations.
- Assist in developing and implementing community and educational programs outside of core School Visits offerings.
- Teach classes on an as-needed basis.
- Act as internal lead for Forest of Reading Festival.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature and level.
* Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and manage the performance of School Visits Educators.
- Directly manage the Education Coordinator and Registrar, School Visits, supporting their professional development and day-to-day performance.
- Schedule and approve staffing hours through Dayforce.
* Partnerships & Outreach
- Liaise with other departments to provide information as well as schedule and coordinate programs.
- Support the Manager, Education in all marketing, outreach, and communication efforts.
- Recommend innovative strategies for revenue generation and new directions in programming and approaches to partnership opportunities.
- Promote School Visits programs to the school community and the public.
- Maintain contacts in the education field and arts education programs through conferences, networking, etc.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature and level.
* Budget & Administration
- In collaboration with the Manager, Education, prepare the annual budget for School Visits programs.
- Monitor approved budget expenditures.
- Monitor registration levels and respond to changing needs of the department.
Requirements
- A university or college degree in Education. A master’s degree in Recreation, Education, Arts or related field is considered a strong asset.
- Minimum 2-3 years of leadership experience in educational programs.
- Commitment to and passion for youth education and lifelong learning.
- Experience designing educational programming that accommodates various learning styles, abilities and age groups.
- Experience delivering educational programming to a range of learning styles, abilities and age groups. · Experience designing and delivering educational programming for various learning styles and age groups.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage diverse staff groups and liaise with departments and stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Suite (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Exceptional organizational skills to coordinate multiple activities and programs.
- Knowledge of risk management and emergency planning.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (Employment Standards Act, Child Care and Early Years Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.).
- Outstanding relationship management and diplomacy skills, including the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and navigate negotiation and conflict resolution effectively.
- Exceptional leadership, staff management, and team-building skills, including the ability to manage employees to drive results and achieve top performance.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector and knowledge of Canada’s arts community is desirable.
- Knowledge of Artifax Event Management Software and Dayforce (HRIS) is desirable.
- Clear Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada on a full-time, ongoing basis.
- This role is site-based at our lakeside campus in downtown Toronto.
