We are currently looking to bring on board several reliable, conscientious, collaborative Grounds Conversion Crew with a can-do attitude to perform a variety of year-round site maintenance, upkeep and repair activities on our 10-acre campus, as well as to facilitate the set-up/strike down of equipment, tents and other site-related requirements to support the successful execution of our events and programs.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, with a work schedule fromThursday to Monday (inclusive of weekends) covering morning shifts (as early as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm) or afternoon shifts (from 1:00 or 2:00 pm to- 9:00 pm or as late as 1:00am), subject to change based on operational needs.
Compensation: $21.50 – $22 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefits package
Location: On-site at our Toronto lakeside campus
Duties
-
Responsible for the general maintenance and repair of our 10-acre site, keeping it clean, free from hazards and operationally ready in support of our events, programs and public visits. General maintenance duties are varied and include garbage removal, landscaping, repairs, snow clearance and removal, safety-related activities, etc.

Safely operate grounds vehicles and equipment (such as forklift, scissor lift, Zamboni, etc.) and ensure that all are in adequate repair and working order.

Perform landscaping duties such as but not limited to cutting of lawns, removal of weeds, upkeep of planters, interlock repair, etc.

Responsible for general maintenance of equipment and/or facilities as assigned, such as cleaning, painting, minor plumbing, minor carpentry, minor repairs, graffiti removal, etc.

Take care of various repair duties as assigned throughout our campus and beyond (such as public areas, parking lots, loading docks, service corridors, and other).

Perform inspections of equipment and/or facilities and maintain required logs (vehicle logs, maintenance logs, snow/ice logs, etc.) as assigned.

Perform a variety of tasks related to event-set up/tear down as required for the successful running of our events, activities and programs, ensuring that all such work is completely accurately, on time, safely and efficiently. This includes but is not limited to setting up/moving/removing tents, tables, chairs, rental equipment and other items as needed.

Act as the Site Operations point of contact on event days to coordinate last minute/real time adjustments as required/requested, ensuring that they are carried out to specification and keeping communication active and relevant with parties involved.

Assist in the annual installation, maintenance and de/installation of our skating rink.

Operate the Zamboni machine to resurface our skating rink and maintain the ice rink surface as required for a safe and optimal skating experience. Ensure the safety of all skaters by following proper safety procedures.

Clean and maintain the Zamboni/ Edger machine and other ice rink equipment.

Support special projects as assigned and as required.
Requirements

A minimum of 2 – 3 years of work experience in supporting event operations and site maintenance/repair activities.

Ability to operate small and large power tools and a variety of gas-powered tools.

Valid Working at Heights training, Forklift Certification and Scissor Lift certification are required.

Prior experience operating a Zamboni machine or heavy machinery is highly desirable. Must be willing to attain a Zamboni training/license.

Capacity to lift upwards of 50lbs.

Must possess a valid Class G Ontario driver’s license with a clean abstract, preferably with 3 years’ driving experience.

Ability to operate light vehicles such as UTVs or medium-duty trucks is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of landscaping practices and/or maintenance and cleaning practices is preferred.

Experience with equipment repairs and preventative maintenance is highly desirable.

Reliable and punctual with the willingness and availability to work a range of shifts which can include day, afternoon, evening and weekend hours.
- A diligent and attentive attitude to ensure good quality work.
- A positive and collaborative approach to effectively work with colleagues and to deal with the public. The ability to demonstrate good customer service skills is important, as our campus is a tourist destination for all to enjoy.

Must have the ability to maintain a calm, composed presence in a fast-paced environment where multiple tasks and things are occurring simultaneously.

Familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act is desirable.

Required to wear during all work shifts the necessary personal protective equipment to ensure personal safety on the job.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada on a full-time ongoing basis.

This role is based in Toronto, as such, must be able to work on site at our downtown lakeside campus.
