We are currently looking to bring on board a reliable and responsible Security Guard-Dispatcher to help monitor and maintain the safety of our premises, properties, and visitors to our campus.
Position Title: Security Guard-Dispatcher
Department: Safety & Security
Reporting to: Security Supervisor
Number of Vacancies: 1
Type of Employment: Part-time
Hours of Work: Up to 35 hours per week, with hours of work taking place from 4:00 pm to midnight. Must be available to work weekends and a few days a week as well.
Rate of Pay: $19 to $19.50 per hour
Location: Site-based at our waterfront campus in downtown Toronto at 235 Queens Quay W.
Summary of Function
The Security Guard-Dispatcher oversees the Harbourfront Security Control Centre and handles a variety of dispatch duties including incident call taking. This role monitors numerous systems including fire and life safety, access control and CCTV, and assists in the tracking and deployment of security staff.
Duties
- Monitor CCTV system and provide command, communications and control functions for the security staff deployed in the field. Conduct CCTV review for investigations as required.
- Conduct a CCTV Audit on a daily basis and provide findings to the Safety & Security Management.
- Dispatch of personnel and escalation based on event type.
- Dispatch alarm response calls effectively, concisely, and within designated periods.
- Complete Delta brief report daily.Maintain daily logs (patrol log, radio log).
- Deal with issues and incidents that are potentially sensitive, confidential or may put persons at risk.
- Utilize a variety of company software programs efficiently and correctly to perform assignments, manage assets, update and log changes.
- Apply the appropriate professionalism, maturity and tact to manage incidents.
- Escalate incidents to the Supervisor immediately when unable to manage the situation at their level. Support incidents as documented or directed to do so by the Supervisor and or Safety & Security Management.
- Advise the Supervisor of urgent matters, life safety incidents, etc., in a timely manner to ensure the appropriate triage is applied and the appropriate steps are taken.
- Perform data entry in a timely, accurate and inclusive manner.
- Adhere to and promote the Harbourfront Centre policies and procedures at all times.
- Conduct key audits and to sign in/out keys at the main desk.
- Respond to any incoming emails and completes the appropriate follow up (escalate accordingly).
- Oversee, administer and maintain the access system and issuance of ID cards as required.
- Provide general administrative support to the security department, including monitoring of incoming and outgoing mail and packages, notifying the appropriate recipients via email, and organizing and filing security documents.
- Oversees the company’s radio sign out and hardware management.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature as required.
Requirements
- Minimum education of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Ontario Security License.
- Must have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills to deal with co-workers, the general public and outside agencies.
- Prior experience working in a Security Guard capacity is preferred.
- Must be able to work afternoon shifts from 4:00 pm to midnight. Must be able to work a schedule that includes weekdays and weekend shifts.
- Ability to work with a phone system and dispatching technology.
- Competency in MS Office, as well as strong reporting writing skills.
- Must have an Ontario drivers’ license with a clean abstract.
- Must have a valid emergency and/or standard first aid/CPR certification.
- Valid certification of provincial standards for Use of Force (in handcuff and baton) is preferred.
- Operational knowledge and working understanding of alarm receivers and servers preferred.
- Experience with photo ID software, hardware, HID card product line preferred.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. All international applicants must have a valid employment Visa authorizing their ability to work in Canada on an ongoing base.
- Employee will be required to wear a uniform while on duty.
