As such, we are seeking a dynamic, confident and responsible Support Supervisor with good leadership abilities, to join our team to help train, oversee, and support our Camps Healthcare and Inclusion Facilitators and Counsellors and ensure that all campers have a safe, supportive, and inclusive camp experience.

Type of Employment: Seasonal contract, from May – September 2025. Training starting in May 2025 (part-time hours) with an increase to a regular work schedule in June. Camps run from June 30 -August 30, 2025.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35-40 hours per week (training on weekends may be assigned)
Rate of Pay: $21 per hour
Work Location: On-site at our waterfront campus in Toronto
Job Description
Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Camps, and the Camp Coordinator, the Camp Support Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring all campers, including those with diverse abilities and needs, have a safe, supportive, and inclusive camp experience. This role involves overseeing the implementation of individualized support plans, managing a team of support staff (Inclusion and Healthcare Facilitators), and working closely with the camp leadership team to ensure the camp’s programs are accessible for all participants.
Key responsibilities include overseeing camper drop-off and pick-up procedures, managing supply inventory, and providing excellent customer service, addressing elevated concerns as necessary. The Supervisor ensures proper staff-to-camper ratios and safety during emergencies, supports the professional growth of co-op students and volunteers, and helps organize end-of-session Open House performances and staff socials. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive, adaptable attitude and the ability to manage shifting priorities with flexibility.
In addition, the Support Supervisor assists in training and managing a team of 2 Program Facilitators, ensuring the smooth operation of the Kinder Explorers camps. They monitor and evaluate programming throughout the summer to ensure it meets the camp’s goals and standards. Administrative tasks include conducting staff evaluations, preparing incident reports, and sending out parent newsletters. The Support Supervisor conducts regular check-ins with staff, assists with staffing assignments, and supports the Camps Coordinator during staff meetings. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to adapt to the evolving needs of the camp environment.
Duties
- Organize and manage the placement of campers with exceptionalities or special needs who require a 1:1 staff-to-camper ratio.
- Support staff training to ensure they are equipped to meet the needs of campers with diverse abilities, including knowledge of care plans, safety protocols, and camp policies.
- Monitor and guide Healthcare and Inclusion Facilitators, ensuring they have the necessary resources to provide effective care and implement individualized support plans.
- Communicate with parents/guardians prior to camp to discuss possible accommodations and needs of their child; this includes campers who require 1-1 support and campers who do not.
- Lead regular meetings with facilitators to review camper progress, address challenges, and provide feedback to ensure quality care.
- Assist staff with managing challenging behaviors, providing strategies for de-escalation and ensuring a safe, supportive environment.
- Help with evaluations, incident reports, and reviewing camper intake and medical forms to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Manage first aid supply inventory, ensuring all necessary materials are stocked and accessible for healthcare staff.
- Participate in emergency drills and procedures, supporting staff and campers to ensure safety and preparedness.
- Address inquiries and concerns from parents, campers, and staff, ensuring a positive experience for all.
- Resolve complex customer service issues with professionalism and care, ensuring concerns are addressed effectively.
- Provide respectful assistance with toileting for campers who require support, maintaining privacy and dignity.
- Adapt to additional responsibilities as needed to support the camp’s overall operations.
Requirements
- Currently studying in post-secondary education in a field such as education, child and youth studies, social services, autism and behaviour studies, inclusion support services, nursing or a related field, or have equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years’ experience within a camp (day or overnight), daycare or educational setting.
- 2-3 years’ previous experience directly leading and supervising camp programs and/or educational programs with youth.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs or exceptionalities, is preferred.
- Ability to remain organized throughout workday (on time submissions, staff evaluations, prioritize urgency of daily tasks, etc.).
- Ability to supervise a staff team (collaborate, resolve conflict, provide feedback/tools, etc.).
- Strong leadership skills to effectively guide staff through training sessions that align with program goals, ensuring a positive and safe environment for all participants.
- Capable to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and manage daily responsibilities effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to bring a positive attitude and enthusiasm to each day.
- Demonstrates punctuality and strong organizational skills, efficiently handling email/phone correspondence, prioritizing urgent tasks, balancing time constraints, and staying on track with schedules.
- Enjoys engaging with and supporting the development of children and youth in a camp setting.
- Comfortable using phones and proficient in common computer programs (e.g., MS Word, Excel, email, printers, and laminators).
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification or Advanced First Aid with CPR-HCP, Advanced medical First Responder, Emergency Medical Responder certificate is an asset.
- As a condition of employment, a Criminal Background Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) is required of the successful candidate. The cost of this screening is to be covered by the incumbent.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. All international applicants must have a valid employment Visa authorizing their ability to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.
- This role is based in Toronto. The candidate must be able to work on site at our lakeside campus.
