As such, we are seeking a resolute, organized and collaborative Healthcare Facilitator to join our team to support the health, safety and well-being of campers and staff.
Position Title: Healthcare Facilitator
Department: Education, Camps
Type of Employment: Seasonal contract, from May – September 2025. Training starting in May 2025 (part-time hours) with an increase to a regular work schedule in June. Camps run from June 30 -August 30, 2025.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, up to 35-40 hours per week (training on weekends may be assigned)
Rate of Pay: $19 per hour
Work Location: On-site at our waterfront campus in Toronto
Job Description
Under the direction of the Camp Coordinator and Support Supervisor, the Healthcare Facilitator is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all campers and staff. This role involves providing medical care, managing health-related documentation, and supporting the overall health and safety efforts of the camp. The Healthcare Facilitator will lead staff training on procedures, basic first aid, and emergency protocols. This includes providing education on critical health and safety topics to ensure all staff are prepared to respond to medical needs and emergencies effectively. The incumbent will also work closely with staff, parents, and healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive, adaptable attitude and the ability to manage shifting priorities with flexibility.
Duties
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of campers and staff throughout the camp experience.
- Provide medical care and conduct assessments as needed, including first aid and emergency response.
- Perform administrative duties, such as managing medical forms, completing incident reports, and ordering medical supplies.
- Review camper medical information, follow up with parents/guardians if necessary, and share relevant information with appropriate staff to ensure proper care.
- Serve as a liaison between parents, guardians, and the camp, providing clear communication regarding health concerns and updates.
- Develop and facilitate basic health and safety training for staff, including first aid refresher courses, epi-pen administration, and training on Rowan’s Law.
- Lead staff training sessions on camp procedures, basic first aid, emergency response protocols, and health-related guidelines.
- Provide respectful assistance with toileting for campers who require support, maintaining privacy and dignity;
- Adapt to additional responsibilities as needed to support the camp’s overall operations.
Requirements
Currently studying in post-secondary field of Healthcare, First Responder, Emergency Medical Responder, or be registered in a Nursing/Paramedic Program or have equivalent experience.
Advanced First Aid with CPR-HCP, Advanced medical First Responder, Emergency Medical Responder certificate.
1-2 years’ experience within a camp (day or overnight), daycare or educational setting.
Previous experience in the field special needs and/or healthcare.
Strong leadership skills to effectively guide staff through training sessions that align with health and safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
Ability to remain organized throughout workday (on time submissions, staff evaluations, prioritize urgency of daily tasks, etc.).
Capable to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and manage daily responsibilities effectively and prioritize tasks.
Punctuality and strong organizational skills, efficiently handling email/phone correspondence, prioritizing urgent tasks, balancing time constraints, and staying on track with schedules.
Must enjoy engaging with and supporting the development of children and youth in a camp setting.
Comfortable using phones and proficient in common computer programs (e.g., MS Word, Excel, email, printers, and laminators).
As a condition of employment, a Criminal Background Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) is required of the successful candidate. The cost of this screening is to be covered by the incumbent.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. All international applicants must have a valid employment Visa authorizing their ability to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.
This role is based in Toronto. The candidate must be able to work on site at our lakeside campus.
