Overview

Originally commissioned and premiered by the Canadian Children’s Opera Company in 2004, and remounted in 2016, the CCOC is proud to present the return of Dean Burry’s critically acclaimed opera The Hobbit to the stage this season!

Based on the classic tale by J.R.R. Tolkien, this fast paced opera will be performed with a cast of over 100 children and youth, and accompanied by a chamber orchestra.

Join Bilbo on his adventure with Gandalf and his Dwarven friends, as they seek to outwit Elves, Goblins, wolves, and spiders alike in their quest to restore the Dwarf-king Thorin Oakenshield to his throne. There will be riddles in the dark, a mysterious ring, and a terrifying Dragon, Smaug, awaiting these characters as they embark on this epic journey.

Suitable for all ages.
