About Daniel Bellegarde
Montreal freelance percussionist Daniel Bellegarde has contributed to the Quebec scene for over thirty years with countless collaborations with artists as varied as Robert Charlebois, Émeline Michel, Bïa, Paulo Ramos and the Cirque du Soleil. In 2018, Bellegarde published his first solo album, Anba Tonèl. His work was recognized with a Global Music Award in the United States in 2018. That same year, the album was nominated for the Canadian Folk Music Awards and later at the 2019 Independent Music Awards in the United States. Influenced by traditional Haitian music and Celtic and Brazilian music, the artist wishes to pay tribute to this heritage which has forged his double Haitian and Canadian identity. In this perspective, he invites us to dive into the universe of traditional quadrilles and his original compositions. With a personal vision of this African-European legacy, Bellegarde presents the second album of his trilogy, Pastourelle.
