About

Culture Philippines will showcase a vibrant array of dances representing the Philippines’ cultural diversity and richness. From the northern to the southern part of the country, the performances will highlight the unique Cordillera dances from the North, the lively rural dances from the South, and the exotic dances from Mindanao Island. These performances will be accompanied by the enchanting sounds of a 10-piece rondalla, a traditional string ensemble.

About Cultural Philippines of Ontario (CPO)

Culture Philippines of Ontario (CPO) is a non-profit, community-based organization established in 1985.  Its objective is to retain and share Filipino cultural heritage by providing music, dance and performing arts instructions to children, youths and adults in Canada and sharing them with the community and the world. Culture Philippines has been the host of the Philippine Pavilion at Mississauga’s Carassauga Festival of Cultures for the last 38 years. In 2003, 2004 and 2006, Carassauga Festival awarded CPO’s Philippine Pavilion “The Most Outstanding Pavilion.”  CPO also received the People’s Choice Award in Carassauga Festival 2007.

CPO dancers represent the Philippines in many Canadian and international festivals, such as Drummondville, Quebec, Edmonton, Alberta, Belgium, Italy, Mexico, Poland and Spain.

CPO was chosen to collaborate with York University for the special presentations co-sponsored by the Philippine Consulate of Toronto to celebrate Philippine Independence Day in 2017 and 2018.
