Harbourfront Centre is Toronto’s waterfront community campus for arts, culture, learning and recreation. Spanning a 10-acre campus at the heart of Toronto’s central waterfront, it is a registered, charitable not-for-profit cultural organization that offers year-round programs and events accessible to all audiences. The organization champions established and emerging Canadian artists across varied disciplines and serves as a recreational hub for more than 6.3 million annual visitors. Tenio Evangelista, President
Tenio Evangelista is Vice President, Government Relations at OMERS Infrastructure. He joined OMERS in September 2003 following more than 13 years of government experience during which he was a senior advisor to two federal Cabinet Ministers and Prime Minister Jean Chrétien.
Tenio holds a BA degree from the University of Toronto and a C.Dir from McMaster University. He has served on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations including the Hockey Association for the Developmentally Challenged, Providence Healthcare Foundation, The Canadian Club, The Canadian Italian Professional and Business Association, The Italian Contemporary Film Festival and the Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre.
He joined Harbourfront Centre’s Board of Directors in June 2004.
Charlie Angelakos, Vice President
Charlie Angelakos is Vice President, Global External Affairs & Sustainability at McCain Foods. In this role, he leads the company’s external communications, public affairs and sustainability strategy across 160 countries.
Before joining McCain, Charlie spent 18 years at Labatt Breweries of Canada, a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev, most recently serving as Vice President, Legal and Corporate Affairs. He also worked in Canadian politics, as an advisor to Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty.
Charlie serves on the Board of Directors of TruLeaf, a leading vertical farming company, and is a member of the Brand Advisory Council for Strong Roots, a plant-based food brand. He is also actively involved in the community, sitting on the boards of the Jays Care Foundation and the Canadian Journalism Foundation. Additionally, he is a member of the National Advisory Board of The Walrus, an award-winning independent news outlet.
In recognition of his contributions, Charlie received the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2012 for his support of the True Patriot Love Foundation.
He joined Harbourfront Centre’s Board of Directors in November 2011.
Tanya D. Bowes, Vice President
Tanya Bowes is a lawyer, strategic leader and senior advisor with a passion for helping teams and organizations achieve results, solve problems and cultivate support for initiatives in both the public and private sectors.
Through senior roles straddling law, internal oversight, operations, and governance, Tanya has expertise in risk management, corporate governance and ethics, operations management, strategy development, and stakeholder relations. She is relied upon to provide sound, evidence-based, and action-oriented advice and leadership.
Currently, Tanya serves as the Board Secretary and Chief of Staff in the Office of the President at OCAD University. She also has prior experience in a wide range of sectors including higher education, legal, government and the international civil service where she spent several years working with the internal oversight divisions of the United Nations in New York City and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in Geneva, Switzerland.
Tanya holds a BA from York University and a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School. She completed an LLM in international law at Cambridge University as a Commonwealth Scholar. She also holds the Accredited Board Director (AccBD) designation.
Tanya joined the Board of Directors in July 2021.

Ayesha Chatterjee, Vice President
Born and raised in Kolkata, India, Ayesha Chatterjee has lived in five countries on three continents. She holds a BA degree from Smith College, Massachusetts, where she graduated cum laude in English Literature and German Studies.
Ayesha is the author of the poetry collections The Clarity of Distance, and Bottles and Bones. Her work has appeared in journals across the world including The Moth (Ireland), Magma Poetry (UK), The (Great) Indian Poetry Collective and Exile Literary Quarterly (Canada), and has been translated into several languages. She has had a number of poems set to music by Canadian composers in a range of genres.
Ayesha is a past president of the League of Canadian Poets and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Small World Music. She has been on several literary awards juries including the Vine Awards for Canadian Jewish Literature, and, most recently, the Janice Colbert Poetry Award administered by the University of Toronto.
Ayesha joined the Board of Directors in July 2021.
David Collenette, Vice President and Secretary
The Hon. Mr. Collenette served as a Member of the Canadian House of Commons from 1974 to 2004, including as Minister of State-Multiculturalism, Minister of National Defense, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Minister of Transport and Minister of Crown Corporations.
Since retiring from elected office, David has acted as a strategic counsel for a number of organizations in the public affairs, transportation and infrastructure, defence and security and information technology sectors. He currently serves as Senior Counsel, Hill+Knowlton Strategies, Senior Advisor, Intergraph Corporation, a member of the Parsons Brinkerhoff Advisory Board, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (North America), and Vice President, CILT International. He is also a member of the Glendon School of Public and International Affairs Advisory Committee at York University and the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation Campaign Executive Team.

Alison King, Vice President
Alison King is president of Media Profile, Canada’s largest independent PR firm. Throughout her career, Alison has earned the respect and trust of the CEOs of Canada’s largest brands and the editors of the country’s busiest newsrooms. With three decades in the communications industry, she is passionate about Media Profile, and about delivering the highest quality PR services in Canada. She works directly with clients and senior leadership teams on strategic creative direction for campaigns.
She joined the Board of Directors in June 2019.
Daniel Leslie, Vice President and Treasurer
Dan Leslie is currently General Manager, Triton Assets Limited. Previously, he was Senior Vice President & Deputy Head of Commercial Banking at HSBC Bank Canada. Dan joined HSBC in September 2014 after 19 years of experience in Commercial and Corporate Banking at another Canadian Financial Institution. At HSBC he was responsible for leading client coverage efforts to enable relationship teams to deliver the Bank to its customers and served as Head of Corporate Banking, leading a team of over 300 professionals across Canada responsibility for delivering HSBC to Middle Market and Large Corporate businesses in Canada.
His previous leadership positions include roles in Corporate Banking, Cash Management, and Business Banking

Megan Boyle, Province of Ontario Appointee
Ms. Boyle is currently Senior Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs, Red Bull North America. She is an experienced professional skilled in Crisis Management, Public, Government and Regulatory Affairs, with a proven track record in relationship-building, partnerships, advocacy and reputation management.
Megan is active within the Toronto volunteer community and currently sits on several Boards including the Canadian American Business Council, Equal Voice Toronto and Canada’s Ballet Jorgen. Born in Vancouver, B.C., Megan and her family moved to the GTA at a young age and has called Toronto home ever since.
The Province of Ontario nominated Megan to the Board of Directors in 2021.
Shane D’Souza
Shane D’Souza is Co-Head of McCarthy Tétrault’s Securities Litigation Group and a leader of the firm’s Critical Situations & Shareholder Activism group. His national practice focuses on complex securities litigation, proxy contest litigation, shareholder disputes, M&A litigation, corporate governance, regulatory and enforcement matters, and disputes involving wealth, capital markets and crypto businesses. He also has significant experience in securities class actions and recently co-led one of the few common issues class actions to proceed to trial. Many of his files have a cross-border component.
Shane is an Adjunct Moot Advisor of the University of Toronto Law School’s Corporate Securities Competitive Program. He was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Ontario Law School in Corporate Crime, Crisis & Culture, and an adjunct professor of Advanced Securities and a member of the teaching team for the Lawyer as Negotiator course at Osgoode Hall Law School. He has spoken at The Directors College, Osgoode Professional Development, The Advocates’ Society, The Law Society of Ontario and the Association of Corporate Counsel (Canada) on topics relating to corporate governance, shareholder disputes and securities litigation.
Since 2022, Shane has been a director of the Osgoode Hall Law School Alumni Association. As a member of McCarthy Tétrault’s National Pro Bono Committee, Shane used to manage the firm’s award-winning Unaccompanied Minors Project. He also volunteered as a Designated Representative for the Unaccompanied Minors Project and is a mentor with the Osgoode Hall Mentorship Program.

Agostino De Gasperis
Agostino De Gasperis is a Managing Director in Brookfield Wealth Solutions. In this role, he is responsible for the human resources function, working with business leaders on talent strategy to enable achievement of the Company’s commercial objectives and developing the Company’s long-term incentive plan to align interest across the organization while working with operating subsidiaries to optimize value creation across entire platform.
Prior to joining Brookfield in 2022, Agostino was an independent consultant providing advisory services to mid-sized, owner managed firms. Before that he served in a variety of financial, human resource and corporate management roles at Anheuser-Busch and Labatt Breweries of Canada. He began his career in the Toronto offices of KPMG LLP.
Agostino holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
He joined Harbourfront Centre’s Board of Directors in September 2025.
Laurel MacKay-Lee
Laurel MacKay-Lee is an accomplished executive with +25 years leadership and boardroom experience in fast paced and dynamic organizations, both public and private.
She is currently Chief Financial and IT Officer for MAV Beauty Brands. Previously, she has served as Chief Operating Officer, Stream Commerce; Vice President, The Shopping Channel; Chief Financial Officer, Skyservice Business Aviation Limited; Vice President Financial Control, Cara Operations Limited; Controller, Loblaw Companies Limited, and Senior Manager, KPMG LLP.
Laurel has volunteered with The Prosperity Project’s Rosie Mentorship Program, VON Meals on Wheels, and Sick Kids.
She is a Certified Professional Accountant/Chartered Accountant having earned a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Toronto.
Laurel joined Harbourfront Centre’s Board of Directors in September 2025.
Ausma Malik, City of Toronto Appointee
Ausma Malik is the First Deputy Mayor for the City of Toronto and City Councillor for Ward 10 – Spadina–Fort York.
The first hijab-wearing Muslim woman elected to public office in Canada, Deputy Mayor Malik is known for staring down hate and inspiring hope for racial justice, economic reconstruction, and democratic renewal.
As Toronto City Councillor and First Deputy Mayor, Ausma brings her local knowledge and experience to be a champion for affordable housing, vibrant public spaces, improved public transit, and safer streets for everyone.
Ausma has spent her life working to build a better city, more caring communities and inclusive civic spaces. From student organizing to environmental activism, from child care advocacy and education accessibility to policy innovation that improves lives, she has experienced first-hand the power of working together.
From 2014 to 2018, Ausma served our downtown communities as a Trustee elected to the Toronto District School Board, where she was successful in getting Jean Lumb Public School built – the first new downtown public school in over twenty years.
From 2016 to 2022, Ausma was the Director of Advocacy and Organizing at the Atkinson Foundation, where she collaborated with grassroots organizers, policy innovators, and other movement builders to advocate for decent work and a fair economy.
Ausma is proud to serve Ward 10, Spadina–Fort York and the City of Toronto, and knows we can do more in Toronto to bring people in, not push people out. Ausma’s vision for Toronto is a green, just, and caring city – a Toronto that works for all of us, includes all of us and gives voice to all of us.

Ashley McKenzie-Barnes
Ashley McKenzie-Barnes is an award-winning Creative Director, Curator and Educator with over 20 years of integrated experience in design, cultural programming, education, and visual and public art. She has worked in the advertising, media/broadcasting, entertainment, publishing, corporate, and non-profit sectors.
She currently leads D.PE Agency, a boutique creative agency dedicated to crafting diverse and progressive experiences, with work rooted in the belief that there is power in inclusivity and representation. She leads a team made up of a diverse group of individuals who bring their unique backgrounds, perspectives, and creativity to the table and are committed to telling authentic and meaningful stories that speak to a wide audience and inspire positive change.
Ashley has been the Curator for Canada’s longest running Black History festival, KUUMBA at Harbourfront Centre, and its first digital programming platform, Harbourfront.live, and was one of the lead 2019 curators for Nuit Blanche Toronto. Her work has included programmed exhibitions, creative collaborations, and award-winning installations for companies such as ArtworxTO, Toronto History Museums, City of Toronto, Manifesto Festival of Art and Culture, Herizons Magazine, PepsiCo, 19 Crimes Wine with Snoop Dogg, Bombay Sapphire, Samsung, TEDx Toronto, Sabian, Campari Group, Truly Seltzer, Walmart Canada, and more.

Mrin Menon
Mrin Menon is Director, Business Development, Americas at Mastercard, with professional experience across payments, fintech, and banking. She specializes in strategic partnerships, dealmaking, and product commercialization, with a track record of delivering impact across both public and private sectors.
Based in New York, Mrin remains actively engaged in Canada’s business and civic landscape, supporting leadership development and financial inclusion. Her global outlook is shaped by having lived in six countries and working closely with venture and private equity-backed businesses across North America and Europe. She remains involved in Canadian leadership development and Scandinavian business design education.
Mrin brings strategic vision, commercial rigor, and a cross-cultural lens to her board work.

Farah Mohamed
The Hon. Farah Mohamed was appointed to the Senate of Canada on March 7, 2025. She is a charitable sector leader, advocate, and public speaker with over 30 years of experience in addressing systemic inequities in Canada and around the world.
Ms. Mohamed is a refugee from Uganda whose journey inspired her lifelong commitment to advocating for the most vulnerable. Until her appointment, she served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The King’s Trust Canada, a charity founded by His Majesty King Charles III to help young people facing barriers increase their employability.
A passionate defender of the rights of women and girls, Ms. Mohamed has served as the CEO of the Malala Fund, where she led global efforts to further Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai’s mission to educate millions of girls. She founded FORA, formerly known as G(irls)20, to cultivate a new generation of leaders by empowering girls and women through education, entrepreneurship, and global experiences.
Ms. Mohamed currently serves on the Board of Directors for RefugePoint and Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre and is an advisor for Apolitical. She has also been an independent director for various charitable organizations, including the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ontario Science Centre, Canadian Club of Toronto, Cameras for Girls and as well as the Board of Music Canada.
In recognition of her contributions, Ms. Mohamed has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, The King Charles’s III Coronation Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. She has also been recognized as one of BBC’s Top 100 Women and one of Forbes’ Forty Women to Watch Over 40, Top Canadian Immigrant and Top 25 Women of Influence.
Ms. Mohamed holds a Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University and a Master of Arts and Honorary Doctor of Laws from Western University.
Farah served on the Board of Directors between 2012 and 2017. She returned in July 2024.
Carlo Oliviero
Carlo Oliviero is a corporate affairs leader with 16 years of senior provincial, federal and crown corporation experience in stakeholder and government relations, strategy, communications and public policy development.
Currently, Carlo is Senior Vice President of Government and Public Affairs at Edelman. He is a big picture private and public sector thinker who has led enterprise-wide engagement, outreach, and the management of relationships at the highest levels of decision making. He empowers organizational leaders to build market presence, manage non-market forces, and strategically navigate the government decision making process.
He joined Edelman from the Ontario government where he served as the Executive Director of Stakeholder Relations to the Premier of Ontario. In this role, he managed C-suite relationships as a primary intermediary between the government and the corporate sector and helped realize the government’s mandate to support economic growth, strategic investments in infrastructure, transportation, energy, mining and manufacturing sectors and building a resilient healthcare system. Prior to his time in the Premier’s Office, he served as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mining and Indigenous Affairs and as an advisor to the federal Minister Health.
Carlo earned his MBA from the Ivey School of Business and a B.A. in Political Science from Carleton University.
