Exciting seasonal employment opportunities for summer 2024 exist in Harbourfront Centre Camps, one of Toronto’s largest, most diverse and creative day camps. We are currently looking to bring on board an Inclusion Facilitator to assist in the hiring, training and support of Inclusion Counsellors on camper needs and accommodations for campers with exceptionalities or special needs.
Position Title: Inclusion Facilitator
Department: Recreational Learning
Type of Employment: Seasonal, Contract
Duration: June-September 2024 (Training starting in June 2024 / Camps: July 2-August 30, 2024) *dates are subject to change
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35-40 hours per week (training on weekends may be assigned)
Rate of Pay: $18.50 per hour

Duties
- Organize the placement of campers with exceptionalities or special needs who require a 1:1 staff to camper ratio.
- Assist with hiring of Inclusion Counsellors.
- Train, educate and support Inclusion Counsellors on camper needs and accommodations.
- Develop and facilitate inclusion and accessibility training for all staff.
- Communicate with parents/guardians prior to camp to discuss possible accommodations and needs of their child; this includes campers who require 1-1 support and campers who do not.
- Build/update camper profiles for all campers who require additional support and provide information to staff.
- Act as resource to staff in terms of inclusive programming, policies and procedures (offering support where needed).
- Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and feedback to Inclusion Counsellors.
- Conduct administrative duties such as daily attendance, evaluations, incident reports, etc.
- Take ownership of Inclusion Counsellors and 1:1 campers’ safety during an emergency procedure.
- Assist with beginning and end-of-day procedures.
- Provide superior customer service.
- Occasional assistance with toileting campers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age at the start of a program.
- Previous experience working with children and/or youth who have exceptionalities or special needs.
- Ability to remain organized throughout the workday (on time submissions, staff/camper placements, parent phone calls, etc.).
- Ability to supervise a staff team (collaborate, resolve conflict, provide feedback/coaching, etc.).
- Ability to lead training and camp activities.
- Ability to work effectively independently and take ownership of daily tasks.
- Ability to bring a positive attitude and enthusiasm to each day.
- Ability to be responsible (punctual, balance time constraints, prioritize safety of campers/staff, etc.).
- Enjoy working with children and youth.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification is required.
- A Criminal Background Check (with Vulnerable Sector Screening) is required.
- Previous experience working in a camp setting is an asset.
- Post-secondary education or training as related to the position (Child and Youth Studies, autism and behavior studies, inclusion support services, etc.) is an asset.
- Previous supervisor experience is an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Non-Canadian applicants must have a valid employment Visa and proper documentation authorizing their ability to work in Canada for the full duration of the contract.
- The role requires standing for prolonged periods of time and involves some exposure to rigorous physical activity during camp-wide activities, and some exposure to inclement weather conditions during outdoor and offsite programs.
