TIFA Kids: Meet Anthony Horowitz
How can the experience of being an audience member at a reading inspire multiple forms of creative expression?
Program Description
Toronto International Festival of Authors (TIFA) has an exclusive event for GTA schools with bestselling British author and screenwriter Anthony Horowitz. Come along for insights into the worlds of adrenaline-fueled adventures, and uncover Anthony’s most popular characters: Alex Rider, the Diamond Brothers and The Gatekeepers.
Anthony will talk espionage and read from the latest book of his bestselling YA series, Alex Rider, which inspired the popular television series of the same name. In Nightshade, teenage spy Alex Rider sets off to Gibraltar after the death of Scorpia, and enters into a battle against a new criminal organization. Next, the author will describe his favourite dud detectives, The Diamond Brothers, in their hilarious new story involving bike-riding hitmen and super-hackers, with thrills and spills, and jokes on every page – perfect for hooking in new readers! There will also be an opportunity to hear about the ideas behind Anthony’s stories and how he develops his characters and plots, as well as plenty of time to ask lots of questions.
Event duration: 60 minutes (11am to 12pm); option to remain on campus afterwards for self-guided exploration.
Books will be available for sale, courtesy of Indigo Books.
