Special Program – In Partnership with STO Union & Toronto’s Nuit Blanche: Textile Merchandise
How can understanding the bridge between art and commerce deepen our appreciation for an artistic practice?
Program Description
In this workshop, students will have the chance to work with professional artists in the creation of STO Union’s Hopes and Fears Assembly performance for Toronto’s 2024 Nuit Blanche at Harbourfront Centre. Often used to balance a project or tour’s budget, ‘merch’ bridges both art and commerce. Students will learn about the different ways artists can raise funds to support an art project and will create their own personalized merchandise. Students will leave behind some of their creations to be sold (by donation) during Nuit Blanche and all proceeds will go to the Harbourfront Centre School Visits subsidy fund to allow other students the opportunity to engage with the arts. Please note that this program has a limit of one class.
