SHSM: Advanced Training in a Skill – Contemporary Vessels

How can the relationship between form and function influence the creation of your sculpture?

Program Description

Our SHSM programs allow your students to gain a certificate for participation in a three-hour workshop as required by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

In our Advanced Training in a Skill – Contemporary Vessels workshop, students will be introduced to the rich history and contemporary practice of making vessels. This workshop will be led by one of our artist educators and includes a Q&A with a current Artist-in-Residence from Harbourfront Centre’s Craft and Design Studio.

Program Objectives

By the end of the SHSM: Advanced Training in a Skill – Contemporary Vessels program, students will:

  • View historical and contemporary examples of clay vessels.
  • Work with an artist educator to create their own clay vessel using hand building techniques.
  •

  • Meet with a Harbourfront Centre Artist-in-Residence to gain a further appreciation for the personal and professional pathways to a sustainable career in the arts.
